Analogue or Digital?

Which One Are You – Analogue or Digital?

Analogue means “old school”; it means traditional. It means doing in the future what you’ve always been doing.

Digital is the new kid on the block. It means innovation. It means taking on a new mindset and even learning new ideas and applications.

Trucking is evolving. Trucking is a large part of the logistics industry. The entire world is evolving. There’s a link below you might want to check out related to logistics.

Many are stuck in the analogue way; others become more adaptive. Where do you fall?

Years ago, I thought Blockbuster was the ultimate in cheap entertainment. I believed things could not get any better in selecting a good movie.

Then along came Netflix. Blockbuster went bankrupt. Analogue migrated to digital. People DID adapt to Netflix quickly.

Then there’s Amazon. It started as a bookseller. Borders was the analogue company at Amazon’s inception.

I spent time in Borders while living near downtown Chicago. Again, I thought it couldn’t get any better. They had books, they had snacks, they had young people.

I’m addicted to books. (It’s almost like my addiction with chocolate, cream-filled floats at Gussie’s on Piedras Street here in El Paso).

I now buy all my books from Amazon plus a whole lot of other stuff. They went digital. Borders ceased to operate in 2012.

Then there are Uber and Lyft. They were digital and replaced analogue taxi cabs.

And guess what?

Within a short time, both Uber and Lyft will be memories. Why?

There’s another new kid on the block called blockchain technology with its “smart contracts”.

Smart contracts will remove the need for a middle-man. It’s digital going toward hyper-digital.

Back to logistics – Did you know that Walmart has its own private blockchain? It’s used for real-time data distribution, invoice dispute resolution and more.

If there’s a bad head of lettuce set out for retail consumers, it used to take a long time – perhaps weeks – to track down the source of the bad lettuce.

Now, with blockchain, it takes probably just minutes to track it to its source and even to the individual picker and packer.

There are thousands, millions of blockchain applications and we are only in the infancy of all this.

Again, we are headed from hyper digital to super, super, super-duper hyper digital. >Analogue will be gone forever. You either adapt or get lost somewhere in outer space billions of miles from earth. (Maybe a little exaggeration here)

Then there’s blockchain technology as an investment. I could write a book on this (been investing for over 50 years) and I’ve got some money staked on this technology.

But I’ll spare you except to say that as I write this post, bitcoin and other crypto assets have taken a big hit after a good run-up for months.

It’s freaking out many who bought into it and are now disillusioned. You can lose your money IF you don’t understand some of the technical indicators.

I know it’s tough to learn something new – many people are working and busy.

But, my opinion, NOW may be a great time to buy (my opinion, not advice).

If you’re willing to shake off the analogue mentality and put your effort into learning this new digital asset class, you could be well rewarded. This is MY opinion and I could be dead wrong. So, don’t believe anything I say about this issue.

However, I have more info on bitcoin and blockchain if you care to pursue this issue on my website. You’ll be also taken to a great article by DHL logistics.

Go here (I have NOT updated some of the content):

Lastly (really), I put my four granddaughters into a bitcoin-related stock. For the oldest, I put about $2K over a 3-4 year period. Several weeks ago, it shot up to over $10K – not too shabby, if I say so myself. It’s in a pull-back now as mentioned above.

The other girls have done equally well percentage-wise.

It’s volatile but – like a kitchen knife that can either cut your finger off or slice bread – volatility can be learned, controlled and profited from.

Bitcoin is a digital commodity and it’s going to grow, it’s going to be adopted like you can’t imagine, it’s going to become scarce, it’s going to go on almost forever.

In a matter of a few short years, bitcoin and blockchain adoption will be as common as the cell phone.
