Over My Dead Body!

Over My Dead Body!

As I alluded to last week, changes are in the FMCSA pipeline. Ignore these at your own peril.

There are two issues for now:
(1) For years, ever since the MAP-21 legislation of 2012, there was a little known provision enacted and this is how I explain it in my training manual:

Three years’ experience – not too well publicized is the requirement for brokerage officers to have three years’ experience in the brokerage industry with knowledge of the rules, regulations and practices therein. Not much action has taken place on this issue.

Now FMCSA is ramping up efforts to implement this provision to test carriers, brokers and freight forwarders before issuing permits.

I believe the provision will begin to be enforced in January of 2025.

So, anyone aspiring to become a freight broker will have about 8 months to get registered without showing proof of industry knowledge.

After December 31 of this year, you will not enter the fold if you do not have evidence of being properly knowledgeable.

Here’s a solution: join my training and get up to speed on a number of issues that freight brokers need to know.

Here’s a caution – there is still confusion on how to avoid negligent carrier selection. We cover this as best as we can in training AND we provide resources to keep up to date on changes.

I fear my head might be on the chopping block: I can’t go into detail now but I believe future freight broker training will have to adhere to a program devised by the powers that be.

We’ll have to wait and see.

In the words of Forrest Gump, “That’s all I have to say about that” – for now.

(2) There’s been a greater focus on fraud in the industry. Yes, we need to be aware of fraud and implement preventive measures.

And we can expect FMCSA to continue an effort to revise the registration system for carriers, brokers and freight forwarders.

FMCSA has stated some general goals such as “The system will streamline registration processes and ensure that the agency can more efficiently track motor carriers, freight forwarders, and brokers”.

It’s implied that “fraud” will be upper most in the minds of FMCSA revisionists.
But, here’s what concerns me …

Yes, we need zero fraud BUT, for some reason, I don’t trust FMCSA to keep the best interests of SMALL companies in mind.

I just don’t trust an ever-increasing concentration of power in this regard – that goes for ANY institution not just transportation.

We live in a pluralistic society where institutions (education, religion, the economy, government, legal, military, healthcare, etc., etc.) have been separate and distinct.

This is changing.

Concentrated power is moving toward greater government control throughout all institutions. Just explore The Great Reset and learn what THEY are saying is coming down the pipeline.

Hitler’s Germany destroyed institutional pluralism; Russia has no pluralism; Islam has no pluralism. Other countries have a governmental/military concentration of power.

I’m for the small guy and gal, individual liberty, freedom of choice, etc., etc.

Many of our elected government officials are falling prey to not only lobbyists but to NGOs – Non-Governmental Organizations. These NGOs are Unelected people who come into local governments and school boards with their agenda which is not good for the individual.

Their agenda sometimes includes the word “Smart” – smart cities, smart transportation and on and on. It’s a blatant attack on private property and individual rights. The collective group is more important than individual rights – over my dead body!

They have all the legislation completed and they tell the locals, no problem, we’ve got it all covered.

I’ll be reading a book entitled, “Controligarchs: Exposing the Billionaire Class, their Secret Deals, and the Globalist Plot to Dominate Your Life”.

I hope others will read it as well.

I won’t apologize for my rant here. I tried to control it but it ain’t easy. Keep abreast of trends in not only transportation but in all of our institutions.
