Here’s the shift that’s going on: it used to be there were too many trucks and not enough freight – and this may be lingering on right now. This scenario has driven rates down for truckers and some trucking companies simply went out of business or they parked their trucks.

Now, it’s swinging back to more freight and this will probably drive higher rates because we could see fewer trucks relative to increasing available freight.

Yes, more and higher tariffs may be a problem; but I’m optimistic primarily because shippers know what’s going on with China and they are sourcing elsewhere.
